I think ‘a rose for emily’ is a complicated short story. I don’t understand completely. I think emily had got psychological problems. Alsoi in my opinion, emily’s father caused this problems. Maybe he didn’t want his daughter’s marriage because he thought that other people who lived in the same area not in the same social statu. And also in my opinion emily’s neighbours was not rich since they always gossip about emily maybe whole town. Besides, emily was very lonely and she hadn’t got friends. But i don’t understand did emily kill her husband or boyfriend and if she did why?

It might help you to think about Emily and her attitude to change. How did she react to and feel about change? This might give you an idea why she may have killed Homer (if she did actually kill him).
