QUESTIONS

Write an autobiographical entry on your relationship with the media. (what and why you consume- what you like and dislike in the media etc.

Also, compare different Turkish media outlets- are the levels in reliability different- are some outlets more reliable than others- what makes you think this (try to give specific examples)

Media is tools used to store and deliver information or data such as newpapers, television stations, magazines, radio etc. there are different tpes of media, some of them are print, mass, advertising, electronic, new and like others. I am really interesested in media, I always watch tv or listen radio and olsa reading news or magazines. I think it has got great impact on human life, if there wasn’t media we cannot learn anything about our country, other people or world. In my opinion, media is a bridge between us and world. For example, I live in dormitary and I cannot learn what happens in world or Turkey without media. I always try to watch news or read newspaper from the Internet. Before I live in dormitary, I spent my time with watching tv approximatly 7 or 8 hours. I really like watching tv especially tv series. But I don’t like magazines on tv such as famous people’s private life. Also in media part, we talked about reality tv and I don’t like reality tv programmes. For instance, nowadays lots of Turkish people are interesested in Yemekteyiz but I really hate this programme. In addiiton, I usually watch news and discussion programmes so I can learn lots of things about my country and world, I think they have lots of benefits for teenagers. But unfortunately news’ , discussion programmes’ or newspapers’ levels in reliability are different, some of them are more reliable. In my opinion, their owners have great impact on reliable and they think individual especialy in Turkey. It shows that some of them are dummy of others or try to give reasons and information specificly. Also, the media companies’ owners get money from them so they using media as a tool of making money and try to get more money. It cause that competion between them and for rating sometimes they make bad programs such as some reality tv programmes: ‘ gelinim olur musun?’. I really don’t like from these programmes, i think that they makes people silly. Also competiton between can decrease levels in reliability of media outlets, because some of them make programs for only money and these programs can be uncorrect. In addition, in my opinion, the diffrence levels in reliability of media outlets can be occured by their owners’ choice becuse some of them manage media outlets for making money, some of them  for their individual goals and some of them which are succesful get owner of their media outlets because of their community and try to enlight people.

the short story’s name is speech to radio-television news directors association. I thinks it is the most boring story whic i have read in this semester. I really read hardly. It hasn’t got any attractive examples for me. he can give more good examples and may be explanations. ı think advertiseming with smooking and lung cancer is very important for people so i agree with writer. i like telling differences with old radio and televisions which was told by writer. also i like the relation with competition with television. ın addition, i agree with the writer about people cannot reach the potential maximum audince in marginal time with a sustaing program.

the film is very popular but i watched it first time and i really like that. the film productor is right about their thoughts there are lots of lies on the real world but they are real and they are not actors in our life. Truman is very enjoyable person and truehearted person. also i really hate about his best friend, especially when they talked about there is anything or game about Truman’s life. In addition, i feel upset about their real love between Truman and S(i forget the girl’s name which Truman desire about her). In my opinion, the girl who love Truman really is right, it is not ethical the share the one’s life with whole of the world. By the way, i think some scenics are so succesful such as people who do not know the English tried to repeat Truman’s words and two old womans situation.

İ think enourmous radio has different subject. The family is a so sophisticating family. They have a radio and it sounds different voices when the family listen it. ıt include their neighbours conversation. After that they listen their talking because they think that they can learn others’ lives.

In my opinion, it is a dilemma which is is it ethical?. I think it is not ethical because the other family which was listened do not know that they are listening them. Maybe they talk forbidden things and i think lots of people don’t want to listen by others. If i can learn others’ ideas, maybe i will listen their conversation because i am curious but i know that it is not ethical..

reality tv: a dearth of talent and the death of morality was written by salman rushdie. in this short story big brother is was told but i have never watch this program. therefore i do not understand this text very well. ı think that reality shows are so absurd because people become famous with unnecesarry things but not always. I agree with Rushide, people become popular for being asleep, keeping a fire alight such as in Surviver, bitching etc. moreover, sometimes they try to get married. In my opinion, it’s so meaningless. Finally, i do not like this short story because it generally talks about big brother and i don’t know it.

ISSIZ ADAM

I’m going to tell about a film which is called Issız Adam and was directed and writen by Cagan Irmak. In this film the main characters are Alp and Ada who are in love with each other.In this film, Alp’s family is very important because Alp has some psychological problems. Alp has a good family and they love each other however Alp has some distance from his family and he can’t show his love. Also, Alp has same problems with her girlfriend Ada and they ended their relationship but they always love each other. He is a cooker and has a beatiful and succesful restaurant in Istanbul, Taksim. He is very competent about cooking and he promised his father to be succesfull but his father had died. He always think that when his father saw his restaurant he prouded with Alp and be happy. By the way, Alp’s family who are his mother, sister, brother and their childrend and couple live together in their hometown and they have good relationship. In this film, the family is portrayed closer but actually have some problems with Alp because he is hard to understand, complicated person. In addition, his mother is very important in these film. She is very helpful, considerate, tender person and she extremelly love Alp but Alp always has space between them. However she know that alp loves her and alp cannot show his feelings to others. Also, Ada and Alp’s mother like each other. When Alp wanted to break up with Ada, Ada went his hometown to see his childhood area and his family. Finally, Ada get married with someone but always love Alp, also she has a girl. It shows that sometimes the family don’t bring happiness. Also Alp always feel lonely and miss Ada, and love other children like his children and understand the importance of family and love.

In my opinion, tiny smiling dady which was wrotten by mary gaitskill is interesting book. the main subjects is the daughter who is kitty and father and also their relationship and problems. I think the book has different and ordinary subject so it isn’t boring. In addition Kitty and her mother- marsha- has different relationship. Also, the article who was in self magazine and wroten by kitty is different and i like the writer’s express about father’s situation. actually, the subject, being lesbian, is not ethical in our country such as our friends’ ideas showed that. In addition, i don’t know what can i do if my daughter has same situation so i can’t say the father or the daughter is right.

I think child’s relationship with his/her parents is mainly has problems during its teenage years. These are times of strong emotion, rebellion, disagreement, psychological changes and sexual experimentation and just like others. In my opinion Connie has got some disagreements with her family and she is passing chilhood to woman hood. For example, her mother compare her with her sister who is june,24 years old and saves money, has clean room etc. Also her father works a lot and don’t share enough time with his family. In addition, arnold desire to Connie but i don’t understand relation with his friend eddie. Also, i don’t understand symbols such as phone cable, numbers. Finally, i didn’t like the end of the short story.

Is music piracy stealing’

in these short story, the writer who is charles w. moore wrote about stealing and copying music or video documents and downloads and also books can be photocopying. In recent years, lots of people ,especially teenagers do that, downloading mp3s and moreover they share them with others and usually music albums don’t be saved. And laws don’t enough to prevent stealing them. For example i-pod that is the most popular mp3 player has been selling a lot and it can cause stealing music documents so i think there is a dilemma between mps players and downloading music that is illegal. But i don’t understand relation with genetic engineering or farmers and music stealing.
